Monel K500 Sheet made by is a precipitation-hardenable nickel-copper alloy that combines the excellent corrosion resistance. These amplified properties, strength and hardness of ASTM B127 UNS N05500 Plates are obtained by adding titanium and aluminum to the nickel-copper base and by a thermal processing used to effect precipitation, aging or typically called age hardening. When in the age-hardened condition, Monel K-500 Sheet has a greater tendency toward stress-corrosion cracking in some environments. Alloy K-500 Plate has approximately three times the yield strength and double the tensile strength . WNR 2.4375 Sheet can be further strengthened by cold working prior to precipitation hardening. The strength of Monel Alloy K500 Cold Rolled Plate is maintained to 1200° F but stays ductile and tough down to temperatures of 400° F. Alloy K500 Hot Rolled Plate melting range is 2400-2460° F.
Monel K500 Coil is non-magnetic to -200° F and spark resistant . However, it is possible to develop a magnetic layer on the surface of Monel Alloy K500 Sheet during processing. Aluminum and copper may be selectively oxidized during heating, leaving a magnetic nickel rich film on the outside of Monel K500 Slatting Coils. By Pickling or bright dipping in acid can remove Alloy K500 Sheet magnetic film and restore the non-magnetic properties.
