SS 317L Plate contain about 4-30% of chromium. UNS S31703 Plates are classified into austenitic, martensitic, and ferritic steels based on their crystalline structure.ASTM A240 Grade 317L stainless steel sheet is a modified version of 316 stainless steel. Stainless Steel 317L Coils has high strength and corrosion resistance. ASTM A240 Type 317L Plate is tougher than 304 stainless steel. SS 317L Plate is recommended to use chip breakers. Hardenability of these WNR 1.4438 Plate will be reduced if constant feeds and low speeds are used. 317L stainless steel Plate can be welded using resistance and fusion methods. Oxyacetylene welding method is not preferred for this 317L SS Sheets. SA 240 Tp 317L Sheet does not respond to heat treatment. Cold work will cause an increase in both strength and hardness Alloy 317L Plate is a higher chromium, nickel and molybdenum version. 317L Stainless Plate is designed principally for increased corrosion resistance and strength .

For imperial weight calculations of SS 317L sheet and SS 317L plate certain measurements (fractions) need to be converted to decimal inches. For an accurate calculation, it is also important to allow for the rolling tolerance which affects the thickness and the cutting tolerances which affect the width and length.
